Hipster's Transbrake Solenoids, whether for Turbo 400/350 (P/N: 22559) or Powerglide (P/N: 12559) applications have the same wiring circuit.

The solenoids have two wires which are not polar (it doesn't matter which one is positive or negative).

We suggest for proper function that your transbrake solenoid is wired in the following manner:

  • One wire to be switched positive from your transbrake button.
    • We recommend that the positive wire to the switch be fused (20 A) and wired through the ignition switch (not hot when the car is off).
  • The other wire to a known good ground.
    • We recommend that the ground be directly back to the battery negative. This can be achieved with a chassis grounding lug/stud. While grounding to just the chassis/transmission case/pan bolt/etc. may "work," it is not ideal and will shorten the life of your transbrake solenoid.

Our recommended wiring schematic is below in Figure 1.
